10 days onboard my First JOB

Routinely embroiled  disputes on academics and study patterns  between a child and his/her parents is nothing new to any one of us. Most of us grow up hearing similar  uni-directed statements such as "Work hard child, Study just these couple of years and then your life will be all in peace ....Once you are into a reputed college the task is done and then you can enjoy your life thereafter". All well we get going and do sit, study, work hard and appear in the entrance exams and reach a good college but what we see thereafter is that the freaking trouble is no where away, ... We find  that we are not out of the cruel grading and evaluation systems ghosh!!! we think and look forward with teachers and wardens telling us "this is the time you make your career, focus now once you get in a good job you can do whatever you like". Well the story down here is on similar patterns, its my experience as an engineering graduate from NIT Jamshedpur after first 10 days of my first job.

As I sit down today to jot down the experience of the first ten days into my dream organization, it is a heterogeneous mixture of the different feelings. Although making a perspective of an organization as big as TATA Motors in just 10 days would be the most immature of all things; but still  it would not be too unjust to let the pen rolling about whatever has been explored and experienced in ten days of our inductions.

We fresh pass outs from colleges with no prior exposure to the competitive, professional world stepped onto join our first job. The mind was all raw, with no previous impressions or prejudices or conceived notions, and to be very frank TATA's handle & manage the young talent very very intelligently. The program of induction training and  the course structure are marvelously designed. The structured training  makes the adaption from college to the professional world a synchronously smooth and effortless shift. 









Focus was to inculcate the basic foundation behavioral aspects of human nature which in today's world is lost often. The goal was to inject the DNA of ethics and values on which TATAs have grown and flourished over for more than a century. The program was extremely successful in giving the bird's eye view of the mammoth Automotive Industry & various interdependent processes. The scene looked similar to that of Human Body with various operations and factories being different organs of it. While Assembly lines are the stomach of this big body the management is its brain, everything is vitally important for proper health of this body. Health of each organ must be taken care of,  inorder to keep the body muscle fit to do work. Pain in one part or even the mildest of hurt in one small finger effects the full body performance . Probably this view of industry is what makes TATA theory of growth. They grow with growth of all the stake holders. The recent new reforms adopted by TATAs in its Human resource practices need to be praised appreciably.

Well that was the holistic understanding of the constraints and limited resource environment in we which will be working hereafter. The best part of training were the activities such as Snow Ball, Hold the thread, Balance the customer, & the business simulation game they were all very successful in making us learn by feeling and experiencing. Apart from the know how of the origin of TATAs and the legendary nation building history the  journey of people's enterprise, this experience sharing would be incomplete without applauding the leaders and management of the company who have developed an imaginary world of all good working environment. It is said the about great leaders  higher they go more down to earth their personality becomes; and it had always sounded  wrong notion in today's world but TATA Motors is the best place to witness this. Everybody is so approachable and  humble, wearing a big smile, ready to welcome you, ready to help you at each step.

Concluding  the first 10 days into my first Job makes me feel proud to be a part of TATA Motors & overall experience has been overwhelming, learning & motivating enough to keep my aspirations high and eyes on upcoming responsibilities.  Companies may make profits or loss there are always going to be issues small and big; but above all  the greatness is in the vision and the goal and the ethics with which an organization tries to reach its  vision and for TATA Motors these fundamentals are very correct.
